Coming into the bottom of the seventh, C.J. Wilson returned to the mound trying to keep the score at 1-0. With only six outs left to play with, the Rangers couldn't afford to let the Giants build on their lead. But the Giants have done just that, and gone up by two.
World Series Game 2, Rangers Vs. Giants: Juan Uribe Drives In Big Insurance Run
The inning started when Cody Ross put together a ten-pitch plate appearance that culminated in a walk. Ross would prove to be Wilson's final batter of the game, as the trainer and pitching coach came out and removed him due to a developing blister. Wilson exited having thrown 101 pitches, and in came a lukewarm Darren Oliver out of the bullpen.
And Oliver wasn't too bad. He got Aubrey Huff to hit a weak grounder. He then got Juan Uribe to hit a soft blooper. But Uribe's soft blooper landed beyond Ian Kinsler in the outfield, allowing Ross to come all the way around from second to score a big run. Uribe would also advance to second after a throw home.
The good news for Texas is that Uribe was stranded there, as Edgar Renteria and Matt Cain both struck out. But the Giants were able to double their lead, and can go to the bullpen if and when Cain shows any signs of fatigue The Rangers are in a bad spot.
