Being an American League ballclub, playing two games in a National League stadium presented some problems for the Rangers. Their everyday designated hitter, Vladimir Guerrero, is experienced in the outfield, but he's no longer very mobile, which made him a difficult start. Ron Washington tried it anyway in Game 1 and Guerrero looked terrible, and he was on the bench for Game 2.
World Series Game 3: Vladimir Guerrero Back In At DH In Rangers Starting Lineup
With the series returning to Texas for Saturday's Game 3, everything can now go back to normal for the next two or three games. Guerrero is back in the lineup at DH, while the right-handed Jeff Francoeur takes an outfield spot so he can face the left-handed Jonathan Sanchez. Additionally, Bengie Molina is back behind the plate after Matt Treanor started on Thursday, and everything else is the same as usual. Guerrero bats cleanup, while Nelson Cruz bats fifth.
Francoeur will play right field, where he can show off his excellent arm, while Cruz will play left.
