After Colby Lewis was able to work around a couple baserunners in the top of the first, it became time for Jonathan Sanchez to try and issue a response. With the crowd and a little momentum on their side, the Rangers were looking to come out and catch an early lead.
World Series Game 3, Giants Vs. Rangers: Jonathan Sanchez Settles In
Coming off a lousy start in Philadelphia in Game 6 of the NLCS, Sanchez handled his first task with ease - he struck out Elvis Andrus on four pitches, the last being an inside slider.
Michael Young then stepped in and, like Freddy Sanchez, gave his team its first hit in its second at bat. He ripped a low line drive to left that Pat Burrell initially caught, but as Burrell fell to the ground the ball came out of his glove.
The next batter was Josh Hamilton, who popped out against the lefty Sanchez, bringing Vladimir Guerrero to the plate. And Guerrero destroyed a ball down the line in left field. However, though he hit it well, it was narrowly within Burrell's range, and the Giants' outfielder was able to range over and make an inning-ending catch.
Sanchez threw ten pitches in the inning, with six strikes. Off to the second.
