The Brewers' managerial gig hasn't been vacant very long, as Ken Macha was only just dismissed the other day, but already there are strong indications that it'll be filled in a hurry. And according to Doug Russell, the person who could fill it may be Bob Brenly:
Report: Brewers Close To Hiring Bob Brenly As Manager
Sources tell me that Bob Brenly is close to agreeing to become next Brewers manager. Brenly tells me he has "nothing to say right now"
Brenly has spent the past several seasons as a broadcaster. Prior to that, he managed the Diamondbacks for three and a half years, collecting a total 303-262 record and winning the World Series in 2001 on the backs of Randy Johnson and Curt Schilling. He was a candidate to be hired as the Brewers' manager before - they wound up hiring Macha - so his name here doesn't come as a surprise.
