Rays Vs. Rangers, ALDS Game 1: Cliff Lee Sets Them Down For Scoreless Second

And there's the shutdown inning the Rangers wanted. It wasn't exactly a classic, 1-2-3 shutdown inning, as Ben Zobrist led off with a well-struck double to the gap, but Cliff Lee came back and worked out of his second jam in his second frame. He got Kelly Shoppach looking, Sean Rodriguez followed with a lineout to center that nearly saw Zobrist get doubled off second base, and then Jason Bartlett was caught looking as well to end it.

Lee, like Price, is at 43 pitches through two innings, and both teams have batted around. But it’s the Rangers who hold the early lead, and sit in a strong position.
