It wouldn't be a playoff baseball game without a questionable call by an umpire. Colby Lewis came out with one on and none down. Derek Holland came out of the bullpen and promptly got Matt Joyce to roll a could-be double play grounder to second base, but the relay throw to first was high, and umpire Bill Miller ruled that Mitch Moreland took his foot off the base to make the catch. Replays were inconclusive.

The next batter - Dan Johnson - then laced a single to right. Joyce took an aggressive turn around second before returning to the bag, but right fielder Nelson Cruz came up with the ball and immediately threw a strike to Ian Kinsler, who was able to tag Joyce before he got his hand back in. Rather than two on with one out, the Rays had one on with two out, and Joyce returned to the dugout all kinds of hopping mad.
But the Rays weren't finished. Carlos Pena followed with a walk, spurring Ron Washington to remove Holland and call on righty Alexi Ogando. Ogando came in to face B.J. Upton, fell behind 2-1, and allowed Upton to lace a double to left that scored Johnson to tie the game up.
Jason Bartlett then flew out to right to end the inning, but the Rays are on the board, and it's a whole new ballgame.
