2010 N.L. MVP Is Joey Votto, Not Albert Pujols, Says Network

At 2pm ET - a little less than an hour from now - the BBWAA will announce its winner of the 2010 National League Most Valuable Player Award. The victor is expected to be one of St. Louis’ Albert Pujols, Cincinnati’s Joey Votto, or Colorado’s Carlos Gonzalez. Pujols had the best raw numbers, while Votto’s team made the playoffs and Gonzalez played center field. Each has a strong argument, which is why there’s no clear frontrunner in the race.

We will, of course, wait and see who wins out. However, we’ve also decided to go ahead and poll the public, so to speak. Just as we did with the AL and NL Cy Young Awards, we decided to poll our network of National League bloggers to see who they think ought to win the award. And the results are telling, with Votto collecting 27 of 33 first-place votes, Pujols getting five and Gonzalez getting one.
