The Cardinals said they would shut down Jaime Garcia for the rest of the season. Then they said they'd skip one turn and re-evaluate. After re-evaluation, they will indeed shut down their prized rookie for the remainder of the games.
Jaime Garcia Officially Shut Down For Rest Of Year
At this point, there's just no sense in pushing too hard. Garcia's season comes to a close with 163.1 innings and a 2.70 ERA. He made his final start on September 13th, allowing four runs in six innings against the Cubs. He'll now use his offseason to rest up and prepare to shoulder a heavier workload in 2011.
