I'd like to state that again: Jeff Francoeur will make $2.5 million with the Royals this season. Manny Ramirez will make $2 million. Suppose Manny is hurt, and only makes 350 plate appearances. Wouldn't you rather have 350 from a guy with a 138 OPS+ than 550 from a guy with an 85 OPS+?
↵To state it yet again: Jeff Francoeur is a human being who is not as good at baseball as Manny Ramirez (fellow human being) but will make more money (an economic system for distributing wealth, ostensibly on the basis of merit), even though Francoeur is not as good at his job (profession by which economic worth is determined).
