Earlier Wednesday, word came out that Blue Jays starter Brandon Morrow had forearm inflammation and would need to take a trip to the DL. Now, via John Lott, we get some additional information and clarification.
Brandon Morrow’s Elbow Injury Shouldn’t Keep Righty Out Long
For one thing, while a Blue Jays official called it forearm inflammation, Morrow says he has a strained flexor muscle in his elbow. He pointed to the inside of his elbow when he was asked to identify the focal point of the discomfort.
And for another thing, while news of this injury raised eyebrows, neither the Jays nor Morrow seem to be very concerned. The DL stint is being described as precautionary, and the Jays are being “extra-cautious”. Morrow’s DL stint will be backdated such that, if everything goes right, he’ll only have to miss one start before returning to the rotation.
So, seemingly good news for Jays fans. Morrow isn't out of the woods, but development of a major problem here would come as a surprise. Upon Morrow's return, Toronto will choose five starters from Morrow, Ricky Romero, Kyle Drabek, Jo-Jo Reyes, Brett Cecil, and Jesse Litsch.
