Brandon Morrow Returning From Injury Rehab On Saturday

When hard-throwing young starter Brandon Morrow had to go on the disabled list out of spring training, the Blue Jays and all of their fans were pretty bummed. Fortunately, they didn't have to be too nervous, since Morrow was simply dealing with inflammation that would go away in time, and now, Morrow is scheduled to make his 2011 Major League debut on Saturday, April 23.

Morrow made three rehab starts with A-ball Dunedin, allowing nine runs in 9.1 innings while striking out 11. While the results were hardly impressive - particularly given the level of the competition - what’s most important is that Morrow felt healthy. As long as Morrow’s healthy, the results will come, and the Blue Jays are satisfied with his progress.

So he'll take the mound against the Rays on Saturday. He'll presumably be on a pitch count, as the organization will proceed with caution at first, but barring any setbacks, everything should be back to normal in no time.
