Chris Carpenter’s recovery from a frightening hamstring strain seems to be going well these days. After Carpenter’s hamstring acted up in a bullpen session last Sunday, it got better pretty quickly after that, and it seemed Carpenter might even be able to make his scheduled start this Friday.
Chris Carpenter To Face Live Hitters On Friday In Comeback From Injury
Well, he won’t, but what he will do is face live batters. Carpenter participated in fielding drills on Wednesday without incident, and on Friday will throw a live batting practice. If that goes well, then Carpenter will start a game five days later on the 16th.
So it appears the Cardinals have averted the disaster scenario, here. Even though Carpenter sustained an injury, it wasn't a major one, and he still looks to be on line to get the game ball for Opening Day. At least, that is, barring another setback.
