The Detroit Tigers and Boston Red Sox organizations were each founded in 1901. For the first time in history, these two teams will square off in a postseason series.
ALCS 2013: Game 1 starting lineups
Jhonny Peralta gets the call in left field for the Tigers, and David Ross starts behind the plate for the Red Sox.
The 2013 ALCS opens on Saturday at 8:00 p.m. ET at Fenway Park in Boston. The Detroit Tigers have opted to go with their offensive-minded lineup rather than their defensive-minded one, which means that Jhonny Peralta draws the start in left field. Peralta's experience at the position consists of ... the last three games of the 2013 regular season and two games in the ALDS. The Tigers really want his bat in the lineup.
