Tigers vs. Red Sox: ALCS Game 2 GIF recap

Game Two of the ALCS in GIF format.

It looked like it would be an easy win for the Tigers, as pitcher Max Scherzer racked up 13 strikeouts through seven innings. Boston failed to even get a hit until the sixth frame. However, the Red Sox stormed back on the strength of David Ortiz's eighth-inning grand slam to tie the game at five runs apiece, and Jarrod Saltalamacchia brought home the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth. The ALCS is now tied 1-1 as the series shifts to Motown.

Even though the Red Sox didn't have a hit at this point, the Fenway faithful was given reason to cheer early in the game: Dustin Pedroia robbed Austin Jackson of a single with a nice diving stop to his left.

As the Sox continued their search for a hit, Saltalamacchia helped to animate the crowd when he almost homered.

Injury? What injury? Miguel Cabrera took Clay Buchholz deep in the sixth inning to put Detroit up 2-0.

Alex Avila, who put the Tigers on the board in the second inning, also homered off Buchholz in the sixth inning, giving Detroit a commanding 5-0 lead.

Meanwhile, an adult stole Avila’s home-run ball from a young woman so he could throw the ball back onto the field.

Baseball bedlam erupted in the eighth inning when David Ortiz hit a game-tying grand slam, just the third such slam in post-season history.

Ortiz's slam also knocked Torii Hunter out of the park.
