ALCS 2013, Tigers vs. Red Sox: Game 3 starting lineups
David Ortiz helped hand the Red Sox a Game 2 win. Boston and Detroit now look to Game 3 after posting their lineups.
The Tigers will play nearly the exact same lineup as they did in Game 2, when they scored five runs but lost. The only change in personnel comes in left field, where Andy Dirks will replace Don Kelly and hit ninth. Over his career, Dirks has gone 2-5 with a walk and a triple against Red Sox starter John Lackey.
Here is the full Tigers’ lineup, as tweeted out by ESPN’s Jon Sciambi:
Austin Jackson CF
Torii Hunter RF
Miguel Cabrera 3B
Prince Fielder 1B
Victor Martinez DH
Jhonny Peralta SS
Alex Avila C
Omar Infante 2B
Andy Dirks LF
Justin Verlander P
Mike Napoli is back in the Red Sox lineup after a day off to clear his head. One of MLB's hottest hitters in September, Napoli has struggled in the postseason with just two hits in six games. Jonny Gomes will also remain in the lineup after taking Daniel Nava's spot in left field for Game 2.
The only other change in the Red Sox lineup from Game 2 is a bump up for Jarrod Saltalamacchia, who will now bat sixth with Gomes moving down to seventh in the order.
Here is the Red Sox full lineup, as tweeted out by Pete Abraham of the Boston Globe:
Jacoby Ellsbury CF
Shane Victorino RF
Dustin Pedroia 2B
David Ortiz DH
Mike Napoli 1B
Jarrod Saltalamacchia C
Jonny Gomes LF
Stephen Drew SS
Will Middlebrooks 3B
John Lackey P
First pitch is scheduled for 4:07 p.m. EST and will be broadcast live on FOX.
