Detroit Tigers' catcher/DH Victor Martinez was merely suffering from a cramp when he was removed from Game 3 of the ALCS, reports MLB.com.
Victor Martinez injury: Tigers’ DH left Game 3 with cramp
It’s good news for the Tigers as they escape a major injury to a key player.

After hitting a single with one out in the ninth inning of the team's 1-0 loss to the Red Sox, Martinez grabbed his left quadriceps and appeared to be in pain. He then walked off the field in favor of a pinch-hitter. Martinez says he would have been removed from the game even if he had not cramped up.
“Just a little cramp. but that was it,” Martinez told reporters. “Anyway, I was going to get a pinch-runner, so not a big deal.”
Tigers’ fans had every right to be concerned about a Martinez leg injury after he missed all of 2012 due to an ACL tear. He hit well in the regular season for the Tigers this season, but has stepped up his game in the playoffs. In eight postseason contests, Martinez has picked up 13 hits and scored seven runs.
Martinez should be back in the lineup for Game 4 Wednesday night.
