The Detroit Tigers lead the Boston Red Sox, 6-0, heading into the fifth inning of Game 4 of the American League Championship Series on Wednesday.
ALCS Game 4, Red Sox vs. Tigers score update: Detroit extends lead over Boston to 6-0
The Tigers added another couple of runs in the fourth inning with singles from a pair of struggling hitters.
The Tigers added two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning after pounding Red Sox starter Jake Peavy for five in the second. Omar Infante doubled to lead off the inning and scored when Austin Jackson lined a single off the glove of Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia in a play that could have easily been ruled an error. Jackson probably won't complain about the official scorer's ruling; he entered the game 3-for-33 at the plate in the 2013 postseason.
Miguel Cabrera singled with two outs in the inning to score Jackson. The reigning AL MVP was 2-for-11 in the series before Wednesday but is now 2-for-2 with a pair of RBI in Game 4.
Tigers starter Doug Fister has settled in nicely, striking out five batters in four innings of work. He's allowed four hits and a walk. Peavy was pulled from the game after Jackson's RBI single. He surrendered seven runs on five hits and three walks.
