Red Sox vs. Tigers, ALCS Game 4 score update: Detroit leads Boston, 7-1, after 6 innings

The Red Sox finally got on the board, but the Tigers are still well on their way to evening the series.

The Boston Red Sox got on the board in the sixth inning but still trail the Detroit Tigers, 7-1, heading into the seventh inning in Game 4 of the American League Championship Series on Wednesday.

Tigers starter Doug Fister surrendered three consecutive singles, the last of which was an RBI hit off the bat of Jarrod Saltalamacchia, with one out in the sixth. Fister escaped the jam by striking out Stephen Drew and inducing a ground ball off the bat of Mike Carp.

The 29-year-old right-hander has racked up seven strikeouts in six innings while scattering eight hits and issuing a walk.

Austin Jackson led off the bottom half of the inning with a single off of Red Sox reliever Ryan Dempster. He's 2-for-2 with a walk in his first game since being demoted to the eighth spot in the Tigers' lineup. Detroit was unable to capitalize on Jackson's hit after Torii Hunter grounded into an inning-ending double play.
