MLB manager roundup: Cubs search progressing, top choice for Nationals emerges?
The Cubs have an eye on the Red Sox bench coach while the Nationals are rumored to have a top choice.

The Cubs appear to be interested in interviewing Boston Red Sox bench coach Torey Lovullo for their vacant managerial position, reports CSN Chicago.
The team would have to wait until the Red Sox' postseason run ends to have discussions with Lovullo. Boston is currently leading the Tigers 3-2 in the AL Championship Series.
Chicago has already interviewed four candidates for the position: Former MLB managers Manny Acta and A.J. Hinch, Padres bench coach Rick Renteria, and Rays bench coach Dave Martinez. Martinez has said he thought the interview went "really well".
Matt Williams the top candidate in Washington?
According to Buster Olney of ESPN, one evaluator said that he would be "shocked" if the Nationals did not hire Matt Williams to be their next manager.
Along with Brad Ausmus, Williams interviewed for the position last week. He currently is third base coach for the Arizona Diamondbacks, a team in which he also owns a small ownership stake.
Williams has a connection to current Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo. Rizzo had been the scouting director for the Diamondbacks at the same time Williams played third base for the team.
