The wife of Seattle Mariners outfielder Carlos Peguero is facing federal charges for wire-fraud after allegedly using a debit card belonging to the wife of Mariners' ace Felix Hernandez, reports the Seattle Times.
Felix Hernandez’s wife allegedly scammed out of $180,000 by teammate’s wife
Carlos Peguero says he was unaware of any transactions that his wife is accused of making.

Maria Peguero, who is also the daughter of former Major League relief pitcher Pedro Borbon, is accused of spending $180,000 at Saks Fifth Avenue using Sandra Hernandez’s card. Peguero made over 60 transactions over the course of three months and had the items delivered to her home.
An email address, versacegoldbarbie@yahoo.com, was used when purchasing the goods. That address was found to be associated with a Twitter account that featured pictures of Peguero wearing some of the goods and sitting next to a Gucci handbag that matched one of the purchases made with the card.
Peguero, who has been accused of shoplifting from a TJ Maxx in the past, reportedly spent a few days at the Hernandez’s home while Felix was gone, during which the two shopped together online. Because Sandra Hernandez does not speak fluent english, Peguero helped her with the transactions. The report says that Peguero had access to Hernandez’s cards during that time.
During the three months that she is accused of using Hernandez’s card, Peguero called to ask if Hernandez ever reviewed her bank statements. Hernandez said they had a third party to manage their financials.
The Mariners refrained from commenting on the situation aside from acknowledging they know about the allegations. For his part, Carlos Peguero says he was unaware of his wife making any of the purchases.
