Someone is paying the piper for the Rangers' consecutive September collapses, but that someone isn't manager Ron Washington. Texas let two members of its coaching staff go Wednesday morning, firing bench coach Jackie Moore and first-base coach Dave Anderson, reports Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Both Moore and Anderson joined the Rangers organization alongside manager Washington in 2009, helping lead the club to what has been far and away its most successful five-year run in franchise history.
Moore, 74, has been a part of Major League Baseball for 56 years, the last four decades of which have been as a coach and manager. The septuagenarian expects to retire now that he’s been let go, but expressed some befuddlement about leaving the team this way given the club’s success:
"I don't think any manager and any coaching staff worked harder than we worked to get the results we did...
"I feel like we accomplished a lot. Two World Series, a playoffs and a game to get in the playoffs. That's a lot of success for people to be getting fired, isn't it?"
The four other coaches on the staff -- Mike Maddux, Dave Magadan, Andy Hawkins and Gary Pettis -- will all return for the 2014 season.
No replacements for Moore and Anderson have been named as of yet, but there are plenty of candidates within and without the organization.
