Twins roundup: Mastroianni and Perkins surgeries, Molitor
Both players will be healthy for spring training.

The Twins announced Tuesday that both closer Glen Perkins and outfielder Darin Mastroianni had minor surgeries, reports Brandon Warne of ESPN 1500 in two separate tweets (1, 2).
Perkins had a medial arthroscopic surgery in his right knee on Oct. 1 to repair his meniscus. Such a procedure is fairly typical for players to have after the season ends and it should not keep him out for very long. He is expected to be ready for spring training, and will likely be performing baseball activities well before that.
Mastroianni had his surgery on Oct. 16 to remove a piece of fixation hardware that has been in his ankle since May, when he had surgery to repair a bone chip. Like Perkins, he is expected to be ready for spring training.
Molitor back with Twins
Paul Molitor will join the Twins as a coach for 2014, reports Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press. Molitor will instruct on baserunning, bunting, and infield defense.
Best known for his time with the Milwaukee Brewers, Molitor played his final three years with the Twins. The Hall of Famer was a consistent threat to steal when he played, amassing over 500 career stolen bases.
After retiring, Molitor spent three years as bench coach in Minnesota and was one of the top candidates to replace manager Tom Kelly when he retired after 2001. Molitor has served as the Twins’ minor-league base-running and infield coordinator since 2005.
