The Cincinnati Reds have signed pitching coach Bryan Price to a three-year contract to become their new manager, reports Jon Fayman of the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Price had been reported as the new manager Monday night, but the team will officially introduce him Tuesday.

News that Price would be the team’s new manager broke Monday night, but no details of the contract were known. The team will hold a press conference at 3:00 pm EST to formally introduce him as the new head of the team on the field.

This will be Price's first shot at managing a team at any level after spending 10 years as a Major League pitching coach. He has acted in that role for the Reds since 2010. Over the past two years, Cincinnati has the third best ERA in the majors with a 3.36 mark, just behind the Braves and Dodgers who both stand at 3.30.
Price takes over for Dusty Baker, who was fired after a Wild Card game loss to the Pirates. Baker has spent 20 years as a manager, the last six of which were with the Reds. Though Cincinnati has been competitive, Baker failed to take them out of the first round of the playoffs.
Jim Riggleman, who managed the team’s Triple-A affiliate in 2013, had been the other internal candidate for the Reds. Riggleman has managed over 1,500 major league games, but the Reds have opted to go with a new face.
