Baseball America names their All-Rookie team

The publication named Jose Fernandez Rookie of the Year in a strong season for young pitching.

Baseball America named their 2013 Major League all-rookie team on Tuesday. The group of 15 players was led by the site’s Rookie of the Year, Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez.

C: Evan Gattis, Braves
1B: Matt Adams, Cardinals
2B: Jedd Gyorko, Padres
3B: Nolan Arenado, Rockies
SS: Jose Iglesias, Tigers
OF: Wil Myers, Rays
OF: A.J. Pollock, Diamondbacks
OF: Yasiel Puig, Dodgers
DH: Kole Calhoun, Angels
P: Jose Fernandez, Marlins
P: Gerrit Cole, Pirates
P: Shelby Miller, Cardinals
P: Hyun-Jin Ryu, Dodgers
P: Julio Teheran, Braves
P: Trevor Rosenthal, Cardinals

The Cardinals led the way with three players named to the team. All three played key roles in St. Louis making it to their second World Series appearance in three years. The Braves and Dodgers were the only other teams with multiple rookies on the list.

Of the 15 players, 11 were on playoff teams this season and 12 played in the National League.

The Baseball Writers Association of America will announce their Rookies of the Year on Nov. 11.
