The average value of an MLB team in 2013 has reached $1 billion, reports Bloomberg. The New York Yankees are the most valuable team, followed by the Dodgers and Red Sox.

The Yankees are by far the most valuable franchise in the MLB, though 10 teams broke the $1 billion mark.


Bloomberg uses ticket sales, sponsors, parking, concessions, TV deals, MLB Advanced Media and other interests to determine the value of each individual team.
The Yankees are valued at $3.2 billion, over $1 billion more than the Dodgers. Combined, the two New York franchises are worth over $5 billion.
The Dodgers were sold in 2012 for $2.15 billion, $50 million more than what Bloomberg values the organization at.
