Cardinals first baseman Allen Craig "felt good" in his return to the lineup during Game One of the World Series, and expects to serve as the designated hitter in Game Two, reports Thomas Harding of MLB.com

Craig had not played since Sept. 4, battling a Lisfranc fracture in his right foot that cost him the last month of the season and the first two playoff series. He made his return against the Boston Red Sox, going 1-for-4 in the Cardinals 8-1 loss.

The first baseman discussed re-joining the team, telling Harding:
“I felt good to be out there, take some at-bats and be a part of a World Series. I’m always going to be aggressive. I’d rather err on that side than be passive. It’s just reading the situation for what it was.”
Craig, who can play right field as well as first base, is not expected to take the field despite the injury to Carlos Beltran. Beltran injured his rib robbing David Ortiz of a home run, and his status for Game Two is unknown. Craig, however, isn't sure if he can handle nine innings in the field.
Shane Robinson is expected to play right in place of Beltran if the veteran is unable to take the field.
