Tigers set ALDS roster: Jhonny Peralta in, Matt Tuiasosopo out

Detroit’s official roster for the division series is in. Who made the cut?

Duane Burleson

The Detroit Tigers have set their roster for their American League Division Series against the A's, and there are a few small surprises on the list.

The recently reinstated Jhonny Peralta has made the cut as an outfielder, meaning Matt Tuiasosopo is out for at least the first round of the playoffs. With Peralta patrolling the outfield grass, Hernan Perez has earned a spot on the roster as a utility infielder.

In the bullpen, youngster Jose Alvarez will take the reins as the club's second southpaw behind Drew Smyly. Young fire-baller Bruce Rondon didn't make the roster because of an elbow injury, but he could be called on in the later rounds if his situation improves.

Here’s the full roster:

Starting pitchers (4): RHP Max Scherzer, RHP Justin Verlander, RHP Anibal Sanchez, RHP Doug Fister

Relievers (7): RHP Luke Putkonen, LHP Jose Alvarez, RHP Rick Porcello, RHP Al Alburquerque, LHP Drew Smyly, RHP Jose Veras, RHP Joaquin Benoit

Catchers (2): Alex Avila, Brayan Pena

Infielders (6): Prince Fielder, Omar Infante, Jose Iglesias, Miguel Cabrera, Ramon Santiago, Hernan Perez

Outfielders (5): Torii Hunter, Austin Jackson, Andy Dirks, Don Kelly, Jhonny Peralta

Other (DH): Victor Martinez
