Manny Acta appears to be out of the running for the Chicago Cubs vacant managerial position, reports Dave Kaplan of CSN Chicago. However, Brad Ausmus' stock is rising, with many in the organization favoring him.
Cubs manager job: Manny Acta out, Brad Ausmus on the rise
The Cubs have not interviewed Ausmus, but many in the organization feel he would be a good man for the job.

Acta has seemingly been an afterthought for the Cubs manager job since he first interviewed when Dale Sveum was first fired from the position. At first it had been rumored that Chicago wanted a veteran manager but their top choice has seemingly gone from Joe Girardi to Padres' bench coach Rick Renteria and now possibly to Ausmus.
Still, Ausmus has not yet interviewed and it’s uncertain how president of baseball operations Theo Epstein and general manager Jed Hoyer feel about him, or whether the Cubs have asked the Padres for permission to talk to Ausmus. The former major league catcher is regarded as one of the smartest men in baseball and had been discussed as a possible candidate for the Cubs position before the regular season even ended.
Epstein still wants a manager in place by the Nov. 11 general manager meetings. That gives him about a week-and-a-half to hire someone.
