The Mets have identified five players that they are "solidified" on keeping four of the team's players moving into 2014 and beyond, reports the New York Daily News.

The Mets will keep their star third baseman and most of the rotation, but everyone else is expendable.

Those four players are third baseman David Wright and pitchers Dillon Gee, Jon Niese and Zack Wheeler. It can then be assumed that any other player on the Mets roster is available in a trade for the right price. Wright is unsurprising as he is the one star hitter the team has. Similarly, the three pitchers are nearly all the team has left in the rotation with Matt Harvey out for 2014.
The Mets have already stated their willingness to trade one of their first basemen. As far as the rest of the players on their roster, second baseman Daniel Murphy is perhaps the most desirable trade candidate. The 28-year-old has a career 757 OPS over parts of five seasons and second base has been a position of weakness across the MLB.
New York could also look to trade closer Bobby Parnell. He posted a 2.19 ERA in 2013 with a 1.00 WHIP while saving 22 games. Parnell could become especially expendable if the Mets re-sign LaTroy Hawkins, an option to which both sides seem open.
