The Chicago White Sox exercised their $4 million option on relief pitcher Matt Lindstrom, according to Scott Merkin.
White Sox exercise option on Matt Lindstrom
Chicago has decided to keep Lindstrom, who will be an integral part of the bullpen next season.

Lindstrom, 33, has bounced all over Major League Baseball since coming up in 2007 with the then Florida Marlins. After spending three seasons there, Lindstrom's odyssey truly began as he went to the Houston Astros and Colorado Rockies for a year each, then the Baltimore Orioles and Arizona Diamondbacks in 2012.
In 2013, Lindstrom pitched in 76 games for the White Sox and was effective, sporting a 3.12 ERA, 1.4 WAR and 46 strikeouts albeit against 23 walks.
By following the WAR (wins about replacement) metric, Lindstrom had his best seasons in the majors. With the hard-throwing Lindstrom likely serving as a setup man in front of closer Addison Reed for manager Robin Ventura. Reed was inconsistent last season, posting 40 saves but registering a 3.79 ERA in the process.
