Albert Pujols files lawsuit against Jack Clark

Pujols has filed a lawsuit in response to Clark’s comments alleging the slugger of steroid use.

Los Angeles Angels slugger Albert Pujols has filed a lawsuit against former Cardinals player Jack Clark over comments Clark made accusing Pujols of using steroids, reports Kim Bell of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Clark made the following comment on Aug. 2 regarding Pujols’ alleged steroid use:

“I know for a fact he was. The trainer that worked with him, threw him batting practice from Kansas City, that worked him out every day, basically told me that’s what he did.”

The former major-leaguer made his comments on his radio show, which was pulled from the air on Aug. 10. Clark still stands by his allegations despite his canceled show.

Pujols vehemently denied the accusations and threatened legal action after hearing Clark’s statement. The first baseman followed through with his threat, filing a lawsuit that claims:

“Clark’s statements are lies that have damaged Pujols’ reputation, causing him personal humiliation, mental anguish and anxiety.”

The lawsuit seeks exemplary and punitive damages, as well as a declaration that the statements made by Clark were false.
