Justin Verlander fired back at Jack Clark on Friday, denying the former major leaguer's steroid accusations.
Justin Verlander ‘upset’ with Jack Clark steroid comments
Verlander hinted at legal action, saying he was upset with the comments.
Clark joined St. Louis airwaves last week as a sports radio host and immediately made noise by accusing Verlander and Albert Pujols of steroid use. Naturally, Verlander is upset with the comments, according to the Detroit News. Verlander called Clark's accusations "moronic" and said, "he doesn't even know me."
Clark cited Verlander's ability to throw near 100 miles per hour throughout the course of a game in recent years and mentioned that the Tigers' ace now only throws in the low 90s. Forget the fact that Verlander can still hit 100 on the radar gun, which renders Clark's claims baseless.
Verlander also hinted at legal action, saying his attorney could get involved.
Baseless accusations aside, Verlander hasn’t been himself this season. His ERA is up to 3.74. For reference, Verlander hasn’t finished a season with an ERA over 3.00 since 2010.
