Gerald Laird throws out Dee Gordon

Los Angeles Dodgers catcher A.J. Ellis did about all you can ask for against a closer of Craig Kimbrel's stature, drawing a walk with one out in the ninth inning to represent the tying run. Unfortunately for the Dodgers, it didn't matter.

Ellis was lifted for pinch-runner Dee Gordon, whose attempt to move into scoring position with a stolen base was denied by Atlanta Braves catcher Gerald Laird -- and perhaps, the second base umpire, judging by Gordon's reaction:
