Josh Reddick nabs Victor Martinez at the plate

With the Oakland Athletics already in a three-run hole and facing the task of having to deal with Max Scherzer dominating on the mound, the importance of preventing the Detroit Tigers from scoring more runs was at a high level in the sixth inning.

After consecutive singles by Victor Martinez and Alex Avila, Omar Infante stepped to the plate and ripped a line drive to the opposite field. Martinez was hoping to give Scherzer an even bigger cushion, but Josh Reddick had other ideas:

Bartolo Colon retired Andy Dirks to end the Tigers' threat. Now, the A's just need to figure out Scherzer.
