NLDS 2013, Cardinals vs. Pirates score: Carlos Beltran ties game at 2-2 with RBI single

Beltran picked up another clutch hit in the playoffs with a two-out, RBI single.

The St. Louis Cardinals picked up their first two runs of the game in the top of the fifth inning on a Carlos Beltran single, pulling even with the Pittsburgh Pirates at 2-2 in Game 3 of the NLDS.

Jon Jay started the inning with a single, then Pete Kozma followed with a walk. That brought Joe Kelly to the plate, who attempted to advance the runners with a sacrifice bunt. The pitcher could not lay the bunt down, and ended up bunting foul with two strikes, earning a strikeout.

Matt Carpenter followed Kelly, striking out on a 3-2 pitch that just caught the outside corner. Jay and Kozma pulled of a double-steal during the play, which put two runners in scoring position for Beltran.

The outfielder, known for his postseason performances, delivered in the clutch, guiding a single up the middle to drive in both runners.

Matt Holliday ended the inning with a flyout to Marlon Byrd, but not before St. Louis ended the shutout and tied the game.
