Hyun-Jin Ryu struggled in the top of half of the third inning, making a pair of avoidable misplays that helped the Atlanta Braves score two runs and tie the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-4.
Hyun-Jin Ryu has a bad inning, Braves even score at 4-4
Justin Upton, Freddie Freeman and Evan Gattis hit three consecutive singles to load the bases with nobody out. Brian McCann then grounded into what should have been a double-play, but Ryu missed the bag covering first base, only recording one out:
Chris Johnson followed with a weak dribbler to the pitcher, and Ryu chose to throw home instead of taking the sure out. Freeman ended up scoring easily, tying the game.
Tommy Lasorda did not looked pleased after the errors:
Andrelton Simmons grounded into a double play to end the inning, but if Ryu covers the bag and takes the sure out, the Dodgers would have exited the inning with a one-run lead. As it currently stands, the teams enter the bottom of the third tied.
