ALDS Game 4, Red Sox vs. Rays score update: Still 0-0 after 4 innings

The Rays are on the brink of elimination, but still have a shot to force a Game 5.

The Red Sox and Rays remain scoreless after four innings of play in Game 4 of the American League Division Series as Boston starter Jake Peavy and the Tampa Bay bullpen both continue to pitch well.

The Rays had the best scoring opportunity in the past two frames, putting runners on first and second with one out in the bottom of the third. Jake Peavy induced a grounder from David DeJesus that Peavy fielded and fired to second to begin a double play and escape the inning with no damage done.

Matt Moore entered for the Rays in the top half of the third after Jamey Wright allowed a leadoff walk. Moore immediately induced a double play, then struck out Shane Victorino. David Ortiz hit a one-out single into right field in the fourth inning off Moore. After a strikeout, Daniel Nava drew a walk. But Jarrod Saltalamacchia's second strikeout of the night ended any threat the baserunners may have posed.

Wil Myers led off the bottom of the fourth with an infield single. Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia ranged to his right and made a nice play, but couldn't throw out Myers in time. He was wiped off the basepaths when James Loney grounded into the fourth double play of the game. Another groundout ended the frame.

Peavy has now thrown 47 pitches through four innings, allowing three hits while striking out two.
