Oakland Athletics starting pitcher Jarrod Parker showed signs of arm fatigue in his Game 3 start in the American League Divisional Series, leading to his early removal, reports Comcast Sportsnet Bay Area.

Parker was pulled after throwing just 73 pitches in Game 5 with manager Bob Melvin saying he didn’t look quite right.

“It just didn’t look 100 percent right,” Manager Bob Melvin told reporters Tuesday. “I had a conversation with him after the fifth, and he wasn’t in total disagreement that maybe it was time for him to come out.”
Parker allowed three runs on five hits and a walk to the Tigers, with all three runs coming in the fourth inning. He threw just 73 pitches before he was removed.
Melvin said the team would monitor him over the next few days, and only then would they know if there is a physical issue that could prevent him from starting again. If the Athletics win Game 5 of the ALDS against the Tigers, they would advance to play the Red Sox in the League Championship series. Parker could be left off the roster for that series if his soreness lingers.
Parker, 24, had some struggles towards the end of the regular season, as well. He allowed seven runs In two of his final three starts, pitching into just the fifth inning both times.
