Joe Girardi’s indecision frustrates Yankees

Girardi has still not given indication on whether he will accept the Yankees previously made offer.

The New York Yankees are growing increasingly frustrated with manager Joe Girardi's indecision about whether to accept the team's contract offer or negotiate with the Chicago Cubs, reports Marly Rivera of ESPN Deportes. Translated, Rivera's tweet says:

Sources indicate that there is a strong degree of frustration in Yankees by indecision of Girardi, confident that there will be many other candidates

Girardi has had a deal on the table from the Yankees for nearly a week without choosing whether to accept or deny it. Reportedly, New York is offering a three-year contract worth $12-15 million overall. That would make Girardi the second-highest paid manager in the MLB, behind Mike Scioscia.

However, the Cubs have been very interested in bringing Girardi to Chicago, near his hometown of Peoria. The two sides have not been able to have discussions as Girardi remains under contract with the Yankees through October, and the team has not given permission for him to speak to other clubs.

Earlier reports said that the Yankees were hopeful they would receive a decision soon. If Girardi rebuffs their offer, it appears to be likely he will be on his way out of town.

With a team that consistently wins, the Yankees would certainly be a dream job for many managerial candidates around MLB.

Update: the Yankees are frustrated no more. Girardi has signed a four-year deal to remain.
