Stephen Drew free agency: Many teams ‘moving quick’ on SS
Drew figures to draw a lot of interest from teams looking for a shortstop this offseason.

After injuries limited him to just 165 games total between 2011-12, Drew bounced back in 2013. He played in 124 games for the Red Sox after signing a one-year deal worth $9.5 million and hit for a 777 OPS with 13 home runs. Drew also provides solid defense at shortstop.
The Red Sox offered Drew a qualifying offer, valued at $14.1 million for one season. He has until 5 p.m. ET on Monday to accept or decline. As teams continue to show interest, the chances of Drew taking the offer grow slimmer and slimmer as he eyes a multi-year contract.
Boston appears ready to move on from Drew at shortstop moving forward. The team has super prospect Xander Bogaerts ready to take over in 2014, making Drew expendable.
