Outfielder Manny Ramirez and starting pitcher Carlos Zambrano are hoping to continue their professional careers in 2013, reports Joel Sherman of the New York Post in two tweets (1, 2).

The two veterans have been working to keep in shape this winter as they hope to sign with a team for 2013.

Ramirez, 41, is willing to play in either the MLB or Japan. His agent, Barry Praver says Ramirez has been staying in shape in hopes of earning a contract. He has not played in the majors since a five-game stint with the Rays in 2011, during which he batted .059. Ramirez spent time playing for the Athletics and Rangers in 2012 and 2013, respectively. In 47 games between the two, he hit for a 698 OPS.
Zambrano, 32, has been pitching in the Venezuelan winter league to prove he can still pitch. In four starts for Magallenes, he has allowed seven runs in just under 20 innings for a 3.20 ERA. However, he has walked 15 batters to just eight strikeouts. He last threw in the majors with the Marlins in 2012, but pitched in the Phillies' minor league system for a brief time in 2013 before being released after suffering a shoulder injury.
Both players would certainly have to settle for a minor league deal first if they hope to sign with an MLB team.
