The White Sox are looking to improve an offense that was among the worst in the MLB in 2013.

Chicago general manager Rick Hahn said Tuesday the team was willing to trade all but four players on the roster: Chris Sale, Jose Quintana, Avisail Garcia, and Jose Abreu. Sale and Quintana form a potent 1-2 punch at the top of the rotation, but other pitchers like John Danks, Hector Santiago and Addison Reed could be shipped off such a move brought back a potent bat.

Hahn says the team has already received a lot of interest in their pitchers and that their depth will allow them a “nice head start” as they attempt to recreate their lineup. The team already made one big move in the offseason: Signing Abreu to a big contract as the team’s new first baseman.
The White Sox were one of just two teams to fail to score 600 runs in 2013. Though the team slugged a decent amount of home runs, they had the sixth-worst slugging percentage and fourth worst on base percentage in the MLB. With an outfield of Dayan Viciedo, Alejandro De Aza and Avisail Garcia set, the team will likely focus their search for offense on the infield and at catcher.
Chicago is also likely to scour the free agent market for any offensive talent and would prefer a left-handed hitter as most of their project lineup figures to be right handed. The White Sox are rumored to like Curtis Granderson, but feel he will command too high a price tag and don't want want to give up the draft pick signing him would require.
