MLB trade rumors: Logan Morrison drawing ‘significant interest’

The Marlins are listening to offers for Morrison, but no deal appears close.

Miami Marlins first baseman Logan Morrison is drawing "significant interest" from other teams, reports Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports.

Morrison is coming off a disappointing 2013 campaign. He opened the season on the 60-day disabled list, missing the first two months of the year recovering from offseason knee surgery. Morrison struggled when healthy, batting .242/.333/.375 over 333 plate appearances.

The 26-year-old showed promise in 2010 and 2011, but has battled injuries and lackluster offensive performances the past two years. Morrison believes that a healthy offseason will help him next season, telling Joe Frisaro of MLB.com:

“Now, I don’t have to worry about being on crutches, I don’t have to worry about how my knee feels. I don’t have to be doing leg lifts. I can be out running. Being healthy right now, that helps.”

Rosenthal reports that no deal is close, but the Marlins are still listening to offers. Morrison will be eligible for abritation in 2014, and MLB Trade Rumors projects him to earn $1.7 million in 2014.
