St. Louis Cardinals manager Mike Matheny says one team has already made an offer for free agent outfielder Carlos Beltran, reports Jim Bowden of ESPN.
Carlos Beltran free agency: One offer already on table for OF
Beltran is expected to be coveted on the free agent market by teams looking for a short-term fix in the outfield.

There figures to be no shortage of offers for Beltran this offseason, with the outfielder being an excellent short-term choice in the outfield. Many expect him to sign a two or three-year contract with an average annual value around $12-15 million.
The fact that Matheny has been kept in the loop on Beltran's free agency indicates that he is still keeping in contact with the Cardinals and is interested in a return to the team. St. Louis helped him get to the World Series for the first time in his 16-year career in 2013 and is expected to be a strong contender to return for the next several years.
Beltran spent the last two seasons in St. Louis after signing with the team as a free agent. Now 36, he hit .296/.339/.491 with 24 home runs in 2013.
