MLB free agency 2013: LaTroy Hawkins has many suitors

Hawkins may have some wear on his tires, but he is still a valued commodity on the market.

Noah K. Murray-USA TODAY Sports

Reliever LaTroy Hawkins had a solid season in 2013 for the New York Mets, and now has as many as seven suitors in free agency, according to Jon Heyman. Kristie Ackert tweets that the Mets are one of the team vying for Hawkins.

Hawkins carved out a nice campaign this year, posting a 2.92 ERA and 13 saves. Hawkins will be 41 years old this offseason, but he has shown no signs of slowing down. The 18-year veteran has been a reliable middle to late reliever throughout most of his career, although he has converted 101 saves.

The Indiana native has pitched for 10 teams in his major league career, including the first nine with the Minnesota Twins. From there, Hawkins has pitched for the Chicago Cubs, San Francisco Giants, Baltimore Orioles, Colorado Rockies, New York Yankees, Houston Astros, Milwaukee Brewers, Los Angeles Angels and Mets.

Overall, Hawkins has a career ERA of 4.37 and a WHIP of 1.42.
