Perfect through eight innings in Houston, Yu Darvish is seeking the second perfect game in Texas Rangers history. Making his first start of the year, in just the second game of the season for the Rangers, the right-hander has sent all 24 Astros he has faced back to the dugout.
Yu Darvish perfect through 8 innings
Rangers right-hander Yu Darvish remains perfect against the Houston Astros through eight innings Thursday.

Beyond being perfect, Darvish is putting on an impressive performance. He’s struck out 14 Houston batters, adding two more in the eighth inning. The Astros have hardly managed to get the ball out of the infield against him.
Darvish is at 107 pitches, high for this early in the season, but under the circumstances there’s nothing manager Ron Washington can really do about it.
His team leads 7-0 after a home run by Ian Kinsler in the seventh, as well as two additional runs in the eighth and ninth.
This would be the second perfect game in Rangers history, as Kenny Rogers threw the organization’s only perfect game on July 28, 1994. This would also be the earliest perfect game thrown in MLB history. The prior record is April 21, set last year in 2012, and it was tossed by Chicago’s Phil Humber.
