The Indians had the second-best first inning of the day Saturday. (Sorry, Tigers.) But unlike the Angels, who beat Detroit 10-0, Cleveland kept scoring, and scoring, and scoring to the tune of a 13-0 lead after two innings and 18-6 after four, before settling on the 19-6 final.
Indians score 19 runs against Astros
If ever there was reason for a mercy rule, the Indians demonstrated it against the Astros when they flew out to a 13-0 lead.

Here’s the break down of how the Indians achieved it:
-- Eight hits with a walk mixed in after the Astros recorded the first out of the first.
-- Four runs with two outs in the second.
-- Seven doubles for the game -- including three by Nick Swisher.
-- Three home runs -- one each by Mark Reynolds, Carlos Santana and Jason Giambi.
-- 22 hits.
-- 38 total bases.
-- Plus eight walks.
Philip Humber and Dallas Keuchel took the worst of it for Houston, allowing 15 runs in three innings between them.
Of course, handed a 13-0 lead, Indians starter Scott Kazmir looked a gift-horse right in the mouth and said, “No thank you, sir, I do not need a win.” After the Astros had back-to-back three-run innings, Kazmir did not make it out of the fourth, and so he was not even eligible for the win.
Corey Kruber, who threw four innings of shutout ball, got that.
