The Tampa Bay starter left his start against the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday night in the top of the third inning.

The Rays ace pitched well in the first two innings against the Red Sox, but started to struggle in the top of the third. The southpaw walked Stephen Drew to lead off the inning, and surrendered singles to Jacoby Ellsbury, Dustin Pedroia and David Ortiz.
Price clenched his left fist after the Ortiz single, and looked down at his arm. The starter immediately left the game after receiving a visit from head trainer Ron Porterfield.
Jamey Wright relieved Price in the third inning, and allowed both of Price's runners to score. Price finished with 2⅓ innings pitched, surrendering four runs on five hits.
Price has struggled this season, as he came into Wednesday’s start with a 1-3 record and a 4.78 ERA. The left-hander has already had eight home runs hit off him this season after only giving up 16 in 2012.
UPDATE: Rays manager Joe Maddon told the media after the game that Price is not expected to make his next start on Monday. Maddon said that the team would wait until Thursday to make a decision on who will start in place of Price.
The manager also confirmed that Price underwent an MRI after the game. Maddon said the initial report revealed “nothing serious,” but that the team would have more information on Thursday.
