Jose Canseco is a D-list celebrity who used to play baseball. Now he’s more famous for being famous, if not for being the leading apostle of PEDs back in the 1980s. Sometimes he says or does things that people pay attention to for some reason. He has over 500,000 Twitter followers, which suggests that the market for sideshow acts like the bearded lady and the half-man/half-chicken still thrives on the Internet.
Jose Canseco: Something involving rape happening, or maybe not
A series of tweets suggest the possibility of an arrest. Or something.

Today, Canseco has chosen to break some news about himself, which seems to involve accusations of rape. Some of the tweets have since been deleted, so forgive the screencaps:
Apparently Canseco has not been arrested, so he has chosen to out and indict himself. Or perhaps not, since he subsequently deleted all of the foregoing. However, he did not delete this:
Sometimes your mind says yes and your body doesn't. Hate that

Subsequently, he tweeted pictures and the phone number of the supposed accuser, which seems like a preemptive strike against someone who could possibly be classified as a victim. So who knows? All we know for sure is that from 1985 until 2001, a guy named Jose Canseco played baseball in the majors and was pretty good at some aspects of it. As for the rest, well, every athlete is diminished in retirement. Some of them depart gracefully, some, like Joe DiMaggio, maintain a public existence but keep their dignity while doing so, and others... Others do whatever this is.
Update: Our earlier description of a preemptive strike seems accurate. While Las Vegas crime reporter Mike Blasky notes that Canseco has not been charged...
Clark County DA's office says they have NOT formally charged @josecanseco with rape. #lvrj

...Jackie Valley of the Las Vegas Sun reports
.@lvmpd confirms officers made contact with former pro baseball player Jose Canseco this morning.

Jose Canseco is a 'person of interest' in an alleged sexual assault. He has agreed to an interview, which has not taken place yet.

So there apparently has been an accusation, in which case Canseco's tweets may at some point come to seem like an attempt to punish the victim.
