San Francisco Giants center fielder Angel Pagan will have surgery to repair a torn hamstring and will be out for 12 weeks, manager Bruce Bochy announced Monday night.

Pagan last played for the Giants on May 25 and was placed on the 15-day disabled list with the hamstring injury on May 28. He played in his first minor-league rehab game Thursday and was 0-for-1 with a walk before the ninth inning, when he hit a ground ball to second and collapsed on his way down the first-base line. He was carted off the field, re-aggravating the hamstring that now needs surgery that may end his 2013 season altogether.
Pagan’s last game on May 25 was memorable. With two outs in the bottom of the 10th and the Giants trailing 5-4, Pagan hit the first walk-off, inside-the-park home run in the majors since 2004.
Pagan, who is in the first year of a four-year, $45 million deal with San Francisco, was batting .262/.314/.374 OPS in 204 plate appearances before the injury. In his absence, Gregor Blanco has taken over the team's center-field duties, and he's batting .304/.357/.406 in 238 plate appearances.
